Cal. 56. NSN Cal. 16" overall, 10" octagonal damascene barrel with inset platinum plaque "CONSTABLE / PHILADELPHIA". All steel mounted, nicely engraved furniture, silver nosecap, vacant thumb plate, and escutcheons. rebated lock has unsupported Serpentine hammer with safety, unbridled frizzen, waterproof pan, inset platinum plaque "CONSTABLE / PHILADELPHIA", and sliding safety. As Bill Orbelo States in his classic text "Dueling in America", "The only difference between a target pistol and a dueling pistol is the target". American marked flintlock duelers are rare, though this is an English manufactured pistol sold my Constable. CONDITION: very good overall, complete & original, barrel & ramrod rib brown with clear damascene twist. Checkered walnut stock is sound with hand worn patina, missing silver keyway escutcheon on right side. Mechanics are fine including sliding safety and set trigger, clear smooth bore.
