2 BARREL SET ENGRAVED BY FERNAND SPIEGEL IN ORIGINAL CASE. Cal. 20 Ga./.410. S# 30616V3 (1963). Only produced for a few years from the late '50's through early '60's pointer grade superposed guns are always desirable; especially in small gauge and when engraved by Fernand Spiegel, who's high quality work is seldom found. This fine little gun has 2 sets of of 26-3/8" matching vent rib barrels with all correct period markings stamped on top. Both barrel sets are also stamped for skeet chokes. Coin finished small size action with gold plated single selective trigger is engraved in usual pointer style with dogs retrieving game birds on both sides (retriever on left with duck and pointer on right with pheasant) surrounded by a background of very nicely cut and shaded scroll. A pair of quail are on bottom of action and a flushing pheasant is on trigger guard bow. Engraver's signature "SPIEGEL" (Fernand Spiegel FN engraver not listed in "Schwing") is double stamped on left side behind retriever's leg. The quality of engraving on this gun is above average and rivals the work of Marie Louise Magis. Long tang round knob buttstock made of nicely crotch figured American walnut measures 14-3/8" over brown leather covered pad. Point pattern checkering is at grip. Each barrel set is equipped with nicely matched captive full forend. MEASUREMENTS: STOCK: DAH: 2". DAC: 1-1/2". CAST: neutral. LOP: 14-3/8". WEIGHT: 6 lb. 15 oz. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: tan vinyl Hartmann case is lined in fawn faux fur with space for both barrel sets and contains Browning instruction booklet in black envelop. CONDITION: very fine, retaining nearly all factory finishes on wood and metal. Leather on pad is chipped. Bores are bright and shiny. Mechanically fine. Case is also very fine with some stains on exterior. Interior has some light soiling from contact with barrels. (26-1429/MGM). CURIO. $10,000-20,000.
