TARGET IN 22 RIMFIRE. Cal. 22 RF. S# 128467. Bbl.7 1/2" with target sights. Full high gloss blue finish. Front left side of trigger guard stamped " 22 CAL". The 22 RF chambering of the Colt SAA revolver was exceptionally limited as only 200 in all configurations were manufactured in the late 1880s. The flat top variation numbers only 93 according to page 196 of "THE 36 CALIBERS OF THE COLT SINGLE ACTION ARMY" By David M Brown. Revolver is stocked with 2 pc checkered hard rubber " Eagle Grips". UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: Colt Factory letter stating the following: "Calibre .22 / Barrel length 7 1/2" / Stocks Rubber / Finish Blue / Sold & shipped to: Chicago Gun & E. Company, / Address Unknown / Date of shipment January 10, 1889". CONDITION: fine overall as professionally restored. Metal retains 92% original blue with scattered spots of finish wear and a few light scratches. Grips are good overall with some minor flattening of diamonds; turning brown with age. Lightly worn bore shows good rifling. A rare opportunity to own the difficult to find flattop target variation of the iconic Colt SAA revolver in rare and desirable 22 RF. PROVENANCE: ex L.E. Statler Collection, ex Robert Sutherland Collection, ex Charles Marx Collection. (01-29493/BH). ANTIQUE. $20,000-30,000.
