MIQUELET CAVALRY PISTOL. Cal. 72. S# 5613. Mexican made military pistols are very rare, pistol is well marked noting F.M. (fabricated Mexico City). The R with crown is "real" for royal. In 1814 Mexico was embroiled in "Mexican War of Independence" 1810-1821 when Mexico would leave Spanish empire and crown rule. 17.75" overall, 11.25" barrel dated 1814, armory proofed barrel & lock, copper furniture, 5" belt hook. Inventory numbered "5613". CONDITION: good to very good overall, well worn, markings good, cleaned metal toned to copper & iron patinas. Stock has distinctive non-walnut grain from local Mexican wood, contemporary tacked repair below lock. Complete & original other than added steel ramrod. Mechanics fine, good clear smooth bore.
