Pair of Extensively Decorated Italian Flintlock Horsemans Pistols, #NVSN, .58 cal., 12.75" barrels with raised images on the top rear portions of each barrel. Metal parts display a matching even gray patina. Hardwood stocks with an approx. 5" finely engraved serpent on the left side of both pistols above the trigger guard. Wooden ramrods accompany each pistol. Special features include 6" of raised decoration at the breech end of each barrel, depicting images, including a seated figure and crest of arms. There are also raised figureheads at the bottom of both hammers, floral engraving and raised gargoyle at the rear of each lockplate. Mfgd circa mid-1700s. Overall condition of both pistols is very good+ with a pleasing even gray patina. Hardwood stocks show expected age and wear, retaining an old rich oil finish. Actions are crisp, bores show even moderate erosion. Est.: $2,000-$2,500. (Antique)
