RING CARBINE. Cal. 30 WCF. S# 882611. Bbl. 20". Model 1894 lever action saddle ring carbine mfg. by Winchester in 1921. Left side of the bbl. is marked with Winchester's 2-line mfg. information and patent information, with the cal. designation marked towards the breech. Upper receiver tang is marked "MODEL 1894/ -WINCHESTER-". Lightly sanded and refinished plain wood forearm and straight grip buttstock with steel carbine buttplate. Marbles No. 94C blade front sight with dovetailed 3-leaf V-notch rear sight. Left side of the receiver features a saddle ring stud, with 4 added holes and plug screws added to the right side, likely for a scope mount attachment. Receiver has been notched on the top at the forward edges of the chamber. Rear receiver tang screw is a oversized replacement. Upper receiver tang has been drilled and tapped with an added screw for a previously mounted tang sight attachment. Rear bbl. band screw has been replaced with a peened steel pin. CONDITION: metal components retain good amounts of their original factory blue finish, exhibiting areas of wear and thinning fading to gray and brown patinas, with scattered spots and patches of light surface oxidation. Bright bore, exhibiting scattered spots and patches of light to mild pitting, while retaining strong rifling throughout. Proper manual mechanics. Wood furniture shows scattered marks and impressions from handling and storage, as well as scattered areas of flaking to the varnish on the buttstock, but otherwise remain sturdy and serviceable.
