MODEL COMMERCIAL PERCUSSION CARBINE WITH 2 BBLS & ACCESSORIES. Cal. 35-30 (M1865) Maynard & 50-50 Maynard. S# 5047. The first bbl in this set is 20" and chambered for the 50-50 Maynard percussion cartridge and has the SN "825" on the bottom and a brass blade front sight. The second bbl is a 20" chambered in 35-30 Maynard percussion and is numbered "9298". The action has a Maynard tape priming system and is marked "MAYNARD ARMS CO / WASHINGTON" on the right side and "MANUFACTURED BY / MASS ARMS CO / CHICOPEE FALLS" on the left. It has a long folding adjustable tang sight. The bbl retention bar is a replacement. The buttstock has an iron buttplate and patchbox with "MAYNARD PATENTEE / MAY 27, 1851 / JUNE 17, 1856" patent marking on the cover. There is a compass with silver plated housing inletted in the left side of the stock. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: set is housed with a fitted red velvet lined period case. The case has molded sections for both calibers, powder flask, screwdriver, and other accessories. There is also a Mass Arms 35 bullet mold, cleaning rod, powder flask, 12 50-50 cartridges (some repro), 20 empty 50-50 casings, 2 35-30 cartridges, 31 35-30 casings, & 2 reproduction stoppers. CONDITION: overall fair-good. The bbls are void of finish with a dark brown patina. The frame is void of finish with good crisp markings. The stock is sound with some handling marks, dents, and scuffs. The bore on the 50-50 Maynard bbl has lightly worn rifling with pitting. The 35-30 Maynard bbl is in similar condition. The case has scattered scuffs and handling marks with some wear and tattering to the liner. (01-29060/ZAL). ANTIQUE. $3,000-5,000.
