SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL. Cal. 7.65x21mm Parabellum. S# 7649m. Bbl. 5 15/16". During the post-war era, many Lugers were produced by DWM and lesser known firms for commercial sales, utilizing both surplus and newly produced parts and components. This example is marked "GERMANY" over the top of the chamber (repeated on the left side of the bbl.), with a Crown/N commercial nitro proof marked on the left side (repeated on underside of bbl. and left side of breechblock). Toggle is devoid of any markings. Metal components exhibit a rust blue finish overall, with some small parts including the takedown lever, trigger, mag. release button, safety lever, and ejector exhibiting a straw finish. Sideplate exhibits a noticeably duller apparent reapplied blue finish. Frame is mounted with 2-piece checkered wood grips, each featuring a brass Pacific Arms medallion towards the top of the panel (left panel medallion raised, right is flush). Dovetailed fat blade front sight with standard fixed V-notch rear sight. Bbl. exhibits irregular crowning, most notably at the interior edges of the muzzle. All serialized parts are matching and include the takedown lever, trigger, bbl. extension (via "7649" horizontally across the lug), as well as the rear toggle link. MAGS: x1 plated 8-rd. with unmarked wood plug. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: original Pacific Arms sales pamphlet. CONDITION: metal components retain the vast majority of their blue finish, exhibiting few spots of light wear, with some light superficial handling marks present overall. Strawed parts are very good, showing wear fading to gray patina at contact points, with some scattered spots of age related discoloration. Very bright bore, exhibiting consistent very light pitting, while retaining strong rifling throughout. Proper manual mechanics. Grips show some light smoothing, as well as some superficial marks from handling and storage, with the left grip exhibiting a repair in the usual area, to the right of the safety lever. Sales pamphlet shows some losses and tearing, but otherwise remains mostly intact and completely legible. Pacific Arms was only around for a few short years, largely contributing to the rarity of PCA imported / retailed Lugers. PROVENANCE: The Estate Collection of John Eckert. (26-1194/MLW). CURIO. $1,500-2,500.
