P17 Enfield M1917 Bolt Action Rifle 30-06 Springfield - Made in USA
When the U.S. entered the WW1, it had a extreme need for rifles. Rather than re-tool completely,
the factories, under the close supervision of the US Army Ordnance Department, altered the design
of the previously manufactured P14 for caliber .30-06.
Winchester produced the rifle at their New Haven, Connecticut plant and Remington at their main
facility at Ilion, New York and at another plant in Eddystone, Pennsylvania.
This particular unit was made in Eddystone.
Here is a nice issue example of the P17 - Condition is as one would expect from an issue rifle.
Wood is bumped and scratched all over - but no cracks.
ASll appears original - even has the Volley Sight base attached to lower stock on left side.
Bluing is dark but unblemised.
Has original ladder rear sight and usual dog-ear front sight.
Very nice example of this full wood collectible rifle.
Full barrel at 26.5 inches long with a usuable bore. Bolt is smooth and cocks and clicks like it should.
