LONG RANGE BOLT ACTION RIFLE WITH SCOPE. Cal. 7mm STW. S# 0451L. This beautifully appointed left hand bolt action rifle has 24-1/2" fluted stainless steel barrel fitted with blued 2-1/4" muzzle break (included in overall length). There is scrolled gold line inlay at muzzle and at rear highlighting fine semi-relief foliage engraving. Right rear is signed "John Bolliger" "RIFEMAKER". Left side is engraved "7MM" "S.T.W." ("Shooting Times Westerner" is the 8mm Remington mag necked down to 7mm). Left hand Dakota M76 magnum Mauser type action (Dakota info is at center of sidewall) has engine turned bolt body, multi-panel checkered knob, and M70 type safety. Drop box bottom metal has deep extended hinged floorplate with push-button release in trigger guard bow. Action and bottom metal are engraved with exceptionally fine semi-relief scroll and acanthus highlighted by flush gold inlaid lines. This dramatic engraving and gold work outlines flush gold inlaid and Bulino engraved African scene of leopard in gold above two warthogs in detailed background (Africa signature series "Leopard"?). Engraving was by the highly regarded Lisa Tomlin (no signature found) who has been working for over 35 years. John Bolliger designed pistol grip stock of gray-green laminated wood shows John's classic styling with swept left hand cheekpiece, skeleton steel grip cap (with engraving matching action), ebony forend tip, left hand palm swell, and sling eyes on raised bases. Stock measures 14" over black basket weave Decelerator pad. Checkering is also a Bolliger design with modified fleur-de-lis intrusions. Patterns are borderless and have scrolled outlines. Execution is, as always, flawless. Rifle is topped with Swarovski 30mm 6-42x50 Habicht scope with fine cross hair retical in Dakota rings engraved ensuite with action. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: large aluminum Americase with space for 3 rifles, and consignor's information sheet. Also included are 10 - 20 rd. boxes of Mountain Rifle Inc. custom loaded ammunition; 5 - 160 gr. Nosler Partition Gold & 5 - 160 gr. Nosler Failsafe. CONDITION: exceptionally fine. Appears unfired with only a very few handling and assembly marks in all fine factory finishes. Bore is bright and shiny. Mechanically fine. Scope is also essentially "as new" optically clear. Case shows some rubs on exterior. Interior has compressions. Two latches broken. To have this exquisite rifle reproduced today would certainly cost well in excess of $30K. PROVENANCE: Military Museum Collection of Shooters Outpost, Hooksett NH. (26-2236/MGM). MODERN. $8,000-12,000.
