BARCELONA CA 1725. Cal. 60. S# NSN. The 9-3/4" octagon to round barrel transitions through multi-turned rings. Top of rear flat is marked with poincon (gold missing) for Manual Cams. There are seven other gold filled "V" stamps ranged around maker's mark. Miquelet lock with external spring has relief scroll engraved cock. Matching engraving is on housing for pan, frizzen and feather spring. Castle shaped gold poincon for unknown lock maker is on back of frizzen and lockplate. European walnut knobbed grip stock extends to muzzle and is pinned to barrel. There are mouldings around most elements enhanced by some raised carving behind barrel tang. Brass mounts are engraved with scrolls and arms and have relief carved grotesque face on bottom of grip. Chamfered trigger guard has foliate finial and a crowned crestplate is at top of grip. Flat sideplate engraved with women's face at center is mounted with 7-1/2" steel belt hook with pierced tip. Slim rosewood ramrod mounts through beaded pipe and matching thimble. CONDITION: good. Iron and steel parts with old cleaning to gray and brown. Stock with old finish has some marks and rubs. Brass is mustard yellow. Bore is dark and pitted. Lock is good with very strong main spring.
