C96 SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL. Cal. 9x19mm. S# 849484. Bbl. 5 1/2". Originally mfg. as a Model 1930 Commercial by Mauser, this example was contemporarily converted into a C96 "Red 9" configuration via boring of the bbl. from 7.63mm to 9x19mm. The top of the faceted breech is marked with Mauser's 3-line address. Left side of the frame is marked with the Mauser banner logo, with Mauser's Model 1930 style 3-line address marked on the right. Metal components exhibit a reapplied blue finish overall, save for on the bolt and hammer, which have been cleaned and polished in-the-white. Top of the bolt exhibits a reapplied double crowned "U" commercial proof. Frame is mounted with 2-piece contemporary grooved wood red "9" grips, and features a lanyard ring on the butt. Standard fixed blade front sight with tangent V-notch rear sight graduated 50-1000. All serialized parts are matching in the 1930 Commercial style and include the frame (3-digits interior), floorplate, subframe (interior), and bbl. extension (full S# on left side at chamber). UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: reproduction wood stock / holster with reproduction brown leather harness. Harness is complete with a reproduction cleaning rod. Pistol, stock, and harness are housed within a hard case. CONDITION: excellent, as refinished, exhibiting some spots of light edge wear, as well as scattered spots and patches of light to mild pitting beneath the bluing. Grip straps show consistent mild to moderate pitting beneath the bluing. Mirror bore, retaining strong rifling throughout. Proper manual mechanics, although the safety lever is notably loose. Grips show a few superficial handling marks, but otherwise remain sound. Stock is very good, with some light handling marks. Harness show some light exterior wear, but otherwise remains sound. (26-2403/MLW). CURIO. $1,500-2,500.
