PERCUSSION REVOLVER. Cal. 44. S# 47145. Mfg. 1862. It is fitted with an 8" bbl that has a 1-line New York address, double "BB" inspector proof on the lug area & "H" proof found on the reverse. The 6-shot rebated cylinder is roll stamped with the naval engagement scene and cylinder pins are present, but mostly worn. The cylinder does not have any inspector proofs and the serial number is not legible. The frame has the standard "COLTS/PATENT" stamp, the recoil shield is notched for a stock, and there is a capping slot present. The brass trigger guard strap has an "F" inspector proof behind the trigger guard. The iron back strap is notched for a stock and has an "F" inspector proof. Original Colt 1-piece grips have no visible serial number in the channels. Matching numbered frame, straps, bbl, wedge, & arbor. Un-numbered loading lever. CONDITION: overall good-fair. The bbl, frame , & backstrap are void of finish with an even grey/brown patina. Cylinder scene is partially visible with approx 40% remaining. There is a small portion of the inspector cartouche ring present on the right side of the hand worn grips. Bore has nice deep gain twist rifling with some pitting. (01-29136/ZAL).
