PERCUSSION REVOLVER. Cal. 44. S# 62259. Mfg. 1862. A total of approx 200,000 1860 Army revolvers were produced from 1860-73. It is fitted with an 8" bbl with German blade front sight and 1-line New York address. Sub-inspector markings are found on the majority of the small parts. 3-screw frame with cap slot, and notches in the recoil shield for a butt stock. Iron backstrap with stock notch. Brass trigger guard. 6-shot rebated cylinder with naval scene. 1-piece walnut grips with mostly visible inspector cartouche on each side. The serial number is marked in the backstrap channel. All matching SN including arbor with the exception of the wedge. CONDITION: Overall good. The bbl has traces of thin blue with some pitting and a fairly even cleaned brown patina throughout the remainder of the revolver. Cleaned backstrap is void of finish. The grips have been refinished with added varnish. Bore is dark with some pitting. (01-29854/ZAL). ANTIQUE. $2,000-3,000.
