Lot of Two (2) Swiss Pocket Watches with Glass Dome Display Cases: 1.) Swiss Cylinder Escapement Pocket Watch with Silver Case and Porcelain Face. The watch is in good overall condition, showing moderate to heavy wear and smoothing of surfaces, the reverse shows traces of light engraving with solder around the perimeter. Face is white with turquoise color trim and large black Roman numerals with gold tone hour, second, and separate second hands. Face shows hairline cracks and chips around the perimeter. The crystal is clean, with a thin wood shim added. Stem wound with a silver bezel. Interior is marked "Remontoir / Cylindre / 8 Rubis" in script, indicating the stem wound, cylinder escapement movement. The opposite side shows repair and solder, lightly etched "15/5301". The release would not allow access to the movement. 2.) Swiss Roskopf 20th Century "People's Watch" Pin-Pallet Escapement Pocket Watch. Watch is in fine overall condition with silver-tone case, large white porcelain face with small red secondary and large black primary numerals, displaying delicate gold-tone hour and second hands and separate second dial. Face is marked "Roskopf Patent", with hair line cracks and small discolored area above the number 1. Reverse of the case is stamped "ROSKOPF" with star symbols. Interior displays the serial number 319597 with the reverse marked with a larger Roskopf marking. Movement is bright with an engine turned interior. Created in 1865 by Swiss watchmaker Georges-Frederic Roskopf, the "People's Watch" was designed with a simpler movement so a working class person could buy a watch for roughly a month's wages instead of a full year salary. Est.: $250-$400/lot.
