Lot of Three (3) Vintage Metal Gunpowder Storage Containers: 1.) Green painted ribbed metal with lead ringed cork stopper, 7" tall, 6.25" in diameter, approx. 19.5" around the center. With imprinted raised metal marking to the lid "PATD. JULY 12, 1859" and "DUPONT RIFLE FFg" on the base. Overall condition is good, as uncleaned, displaying approx. 65% paint remaining. 2.) Green painted ribbed metal with metal cap, 7.5" tall, 6" in diameter, approx. 20" around the center. With imprinted raised metal markings to the lid "DANGEROUS EXPLOSIVES 6-1/4 LBS ICC * 13", "DUPONT POWDER" paper label on the top, and "E.I. DUPONT DE NEMOURS & COMPANY/MANUFACTURERS OF EXPLOSIVES OF EVERY KIND" paper advertiser on the base. Including a likeness of a military battleship at the center of that ad. There is also a 3" brown paper wrapping around the can with handwritten "Gun Powder". Overall condition is good+, as uncleaned, displaying approx. 75% paint remaining. 3.) Laflin & Rand/Hercules Powder Co. Orange Extra Sporting, red painted ribbed metal with metal stopper, 7.25" tall, 6.25" in diameter, approx. 20" around the center. With color paper tag, 3.5" in diameter attached to the outside base of the container, stating the above-noted description of the contents. Top of the can shows raised information that appears to read "EXPLOSIVE DANGEROUS 100-13" with "2 F" painted in silver. Overall condition is good, as un-cleaned, displaying approx. 65% paint remaining. All cans are empty. Est.: $250-$450/lot.
