WHO WAS PERCY PAVEY?
Unchallenged as the greatest competitive marksman Australia has ever produced, Percy Pavey dominated his chosen sport in the same manner as Sir Hubert Opperman in cycling, Sir Donald Bradman in cricket, and Sir Norman Brookes in tennis. His career as a top level marksman spanned more than 30 years.
His record in senior competition in Australia is unmatched, winning numerous King’s and Queen’s badges.
The Kings and Queens prize is the same prize event and is linked to whoever is the monarch of the day. The trophy is presented at state, national and international events.
Between 1930 and 1959, he won the Victorian prize five times (1930, 1932, 1935, 1958, 1959), the New South Wales prize twice (1931, 1952), the Queensland prize three times (1930, 1939, 1950), the South Australian prize twice (1938, 1955) and the Tasmanian prize twice (dates unknown). In 1952 he became the first man to win a King’s or Queen’s prize and the Jamieson Aggregate in the same year.
In 1928 he won the Canadian Grand Aggregate and the first stage of the Governor General’s Aggregate. His proudest moment was winning the coveted King’s Prize at Bisley, England (where he represented Australia five times) in 1948 and was presented with this award by King George V. In 1956 he won the Scottish Championship and the Scottish Grand Aggregate. He won the Grand Aggregate, the top prize in the sport, 16 times -the only Australian to achieve this.
His friends knew him as a very gentle and reserved man who travelled everywhere by bicycle. The front fence of his home in Oakleigh was made from the barrels of some of the many rifles he had used.
Someone once commented to Pavey that he should be known as the Don Bradman of rifle shooting, but Pavey responded that in fact Bradman should be known as the Percy Pavey of cricket as he was the elder of the two!
In 1982 he was an inaugural inductee to the Stockman’s Hall of Fame in Longreach, Queensland. In 1971 Pavey was made a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) for his service to shooting.

If shipping is required for any purchase an additional charge will occur the day the item has been shipped. We ship at cost via Canada Post or UPS dependant upon product. We aim to have items out the door within 10 days after auction close. We are NOT responsible for damage during shipping. All items are sent by Canada Post or UPS depending on location, size of parcel and regulations. We don't guarantee delivery times and will not refund shipping charges for parcels that are not delivered by a specific date.
Items over $200 will be insured and a signature 18+ is required (unless under $200 or going by letter mail).
Ammunition will now be shipped exclusively with UPS. We must ship Ammunition and Firearms to the address on file with the CFO. Please ensure that you have a UPS delivery agent in your area prior to bidding, as UPS does not cover many rural areas. PLEASE CHECK YOUR POSTAL CODE! Recurring problem payers will be banned from future sales. Bidders are responsible for full payment of all their purchases at the drop of the hammer. Our Consignors are paid based on the hammer price. We will attempt to charge your credit card partial amounts until the amount is paid in full. Any purchase which has not been fully paid will be resold at the next available opportunity. Our normal commission charge will apply on re-sale. Any balance remaining unpaid after the resale will be referred to our collection agency, and or small claims court.

KOS Auctions do not guarantee or make warranties on any lot. We acknowledge that errors may occur, however we endeavour to give you accurate information in descriptions provided. No employee of KOS Auctions is authorized to make any representation or warranty, oral or written, with respect to any lot or item for sale other than the CEO. KOS Auctions will not return or refund money if an item is not exactly in the same condition as listed in online listing. Firearm ratings in the online listing are subjective and are of visual opinion, no mechanical inspection or test firing is undertaken by KOS. Any concern must be addressed with a recognized gunsmith prior to firing any firearm.
CANADIAN BIDDERS: Firearm and Ammunition purchasers require a valid P.A.L. (Possession and Acquisition License). All restricted and prohibited firearms are registered with the Canadian Firearms Program and will be transferred to the purchaser following the completion of the sale and receipt of full payment. It is the purchaser’s responsibility to determine that they have the correct category of license for the intended purchase prior to bidding. You will require a P.A.L. for all Prohibited/Restricted/Non-Restricted category firearms. No P.A.L. is required for Antique category firearms.
Ammunition and Firearms must be shipped to an address on file with the CFO. Ammunition and Firearms cannot be shipped in the same box.
Ammunition will now be shipped exclusively with UPS. We must ship Ammunition to your address on file with the CFO. Please ensure that you have a UPS delivery agent in your area prior to bidding, as UPS does not cover all rural areas. We do not ship ammunition to the USA.
Any items that are purchased that we are not able to deliver/ or you don’t have a valid license to possess will be sold at the next opportunity, regular commission charges apply to that secondary sale.
As we are selling Firearms and Ammunition it is imperative that bidders/customers provide us their correct information. We require your full correct name as shown on your PAL, PAL number, date of birth, the mailing address that is associated with your PAL. Customers who fail to do so, or who need the paperwork restarted due to an error on their part will be charged an administrative fee of $25.00 per lot. U.S.A./INTERNATIONAL BIDDERS:
Please be advised that we cannot ship any sort of firearm, directly to USA or International buyers. Buyers must use a third-party exporter for these items.
We cannot ship receivers, ammunition/primers/primed brass, air guns or grenades to USA or International buyers. These cannot be shipped by us or an exporter. Do not bid on these items.
All USA and International bidders will receive an email that requests bidder to agree to the USA and International bidder terms and conditions. Accounts will not be approved until the bidder has responded that they have read, understand and accept these terms. Please check with your governing body and Borderview to ensure your intended purchase is importable, as well as the third party exporter to ensure they will be able to export to your country, this should be done prior to bidding. KOS Auctions nor the Consignor makes any representation or warranty, express or implied, as to the title, merchant ability, fitness or condition of the property or as to the correctness of description, genuineness, attribution, provenance or period of the property or as to whether the purchaser acquires any copyrights or other intellectual property rights in lots sold or as to whether a work of art is subject to the artist's moral rights or other residual rights of the artist. All Firearms and Ammunition are sold as Collector lots only. Fitness to fire or otherwise discharge the Firearm or Ammunition is expressly denied by KOS Auctions. A competent Gunsmith should be consulted before attempting to use or fire any Firearm or Ammunition. The Purchaser expressly acknowledges and agrees that in no event shall KOS Auctions or its associcated companies be liable for any damages including without limitation any compensatory, incidental or consequential damages.
The absence of a condition statement does not imply that the lot is in perfect condition or completely free from wear and tear, imperfections or the effects of aging. If we sell firearms that have been previously de-activated by others, these may not meet current or exportable standards. Firearms de-activated by other may or may not have a “de-activation letter” available. We are not able to search for letters for firearms de-activated by others.
