LOT OF TWO GREEK GRAS BOLT ACTION RIFLES.
Cal. both 11mm Gras.
1) Greek 1874 Gras Artillery Musketoon. S# 3372. Bbl. 19". Blade front sight. Ladder rear sight graduated to 1100m. Bolt parts are mismatched, no visible stock number but other visible parts are matching. No extractor assembly present. Greek contract 1874 Gras Artillery Musketoon. Bbl. has 1877 date. Left side of receiver has Steyr markings & Greek "Y1874" model designation. Hardwood stock set with brass hardware & bottom mounted sling swivels that are a bit bent. Rear band is on backwards & loose. No ramrod present. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: brass handled Chassepot style bayonet that appears shortened. No scabbard present. CONDITION: stock has a darkened appearance with some faint writing, a large chip behind upper tang, another large chip to right of buttplate, a few other chips, scattered gouges, dings, handling marks & scratches. Brass parts are a dull yellow patina with oxidation, dings & pitting. Balance of metal is a gray oxidized patina with scattered pitting, dings & edge wear. Action is stuck rearward & will require attention to fix. Bore shows notable pitting along its length with visible rifling. (01-28409/MJC).
2) Greek 1874 Gras Cavalry Carbine. S# 7931. Bbl. 27". Blade front sight. Ladder rear sight graduated to 1000m. Bolt numbers are mismatched but other visible parts are matching. Left side of receiver has Steyr markings with Greek "Y1874" marking. Bbl. appears to be dated "1880". Brass hardware. Hardwood stock set with bottom mounted sling swivels. Rear swivel hardware to be old crude replacement with pitting throughout. Ramrod present. CONDITION: refinished stock has added finish with faint acceptance roundel on right side of butt, a few filler putty repairs, some chipping in ramrod channel, scattered dings, abrasions & handling marks. Brass parts have been polished bright with some pitting, oxidation & dings. Balance of metal has a bright cleaned appearance with some notable pitting patches along bbl, scattered dings & oxidation. Action functions properly when hand cycled. Bore has strong rifling with some frosting & light pitting. PROVENANCE: From the PMRB Collection. (01-28410/MJC). BOTH ANTIQUE. $400-600 for lot.
