LOT OF TWO DUTCH BEAUMONT VITALI BOLT ACTION
RIFLES. Both Cal. 11.3x51R.
1) Beaumont Vitali 1871/88 Bolt Action Rifle. S# 4636. Bbl. 32 1/4". Blade front sight. Tangent rear sight. Rifle was arsenal updated from single shot to Vitali magazine. Receiver, rear sight, follower & bolt parts all bear "73" number, while buttplate & bbl. are numbered "4636". Bbl. dated 1874. Receiver has faint Massarchit marking. Hardwood stock set with bottom mounted sling swivels. Rear band keeper & ramrod are missing. Right side of butt has faint 1875 dated Dutch roundel. CONDITION: sanded stock set shows a couple small cracks, some chipping, dings, handling marks & staining. Metal is a dull gray oxidized patina with some dings & pitting. Action appears functional when hand cycled. Bore shows scattered oxidation & pitting but strong rifling. (01-28389/MJC).
2) Beaumont Vitali 1871/88 Bolt Action Rifle. S# 785. Bbl. 32 1/4". Blade front sight. Tangent rear sight. Balance of parts have separate assembly number that matches each other such as bolt parts, rear sight & follower. Rifle was arsenal updated from single shot to Vitali magazine. Bbl. dated 1874. Receiver has faint Massarchit marking. Reblue finish. Hardwood stock set with bottom mounted sling swivels. Replacement short ramrod present. Right side of butt has partly faded 1875 dated cartouche. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: socket bayonet. CONDITION: stock has older added finish with shows some chipping, small cracks, scattered dings, scratches & handling marks. Metal shows some tool marks on receiver & rear of bbl. Metal otherwise retains most of its reblue finish with scattered oxidation, pitting, handling marks & edge wear. Action functions properly when hand cycled. Bore shows some pitting & oxidation but strong rifling. PROVENANCE: From the PMRB Collection. (01-28390/MJC). BOTH ANTIQUE. $600-1,000 for pair.
