SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOLS WITH HOLSTERS. 1) MAUSER "SVW/45" CODE P.38 SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL. Cal. 9x19mm. S# 6045g. Bbl. 4 7/8". P.38 semi-automatic pistol mfg. by Mauser while under French occupation, circa. 1945. The left side of the slide is marked "P.38", followed by Mauser's mfg. code and the 2-digit year of mfg. "svw/ 45", as well as the S#, with a French 5-pointed star acceptance proof marked on the right (repeated on left side of locking block and rear lug of bbl.). Left side of the bbl. is marked with a Mauser Eagle/WaA135 proof on the forward lug. Metal components exhibit a reapplied blue finish, with some small parts including the takedown lever, safety / docking lever, and hammer exhibiting a reheated straw finish. Frame is mounted with 2-piece grooved phosphate finished stamped sheet metal grips. Standard dovetailed blade front sight and U-notch rear sight. All serialized parts are matching and include the frame, slide, bbl., and locking block. MAGS: x2 blued steel WWII production 8-rd. mags. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: x1 black leather holster marked "0/0833/0007/ P.38" and with a German WWII eagle proof. CONDITION: metal components retain virtually all of their reapplied blue finish, exhibiting scattered spots of light pitting beneath the finish overall. Bore is bright, exhibiting consistent light pitting, while retaining well defined rifling throughout. Proper manual mechanics, to include the safety / decocking lever. Grips show mild wear and thinning, but otherwise remain sound. Reproduction holster is very good overall. (26-1861/MLW). 2) MAUSER "GREY GHOST" P.38 SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL. Cal. 9x19mm. S# 7808k. Bbl. 4 7/8". "Grey Ghost" P.38 semi-automatic pistol mfg. by Mauser while under French occupation, circa. 1945-1946. Left side of the slide is marked "P.38", followed by Mauser's mfg. code and the 2-digit year of mfg. "svw/ 46", as well as the S#, with a French 5-pointed star acceptance proof marked on the right (star acceptance proof repeated on left side of locking block and rear bbl. lug). Metal components exhibit a phosphate finish overall. Frame is mounted with 2-piece grooved stamped sheet metal grips. Standard dovetailed blade front sight and U-notch rear sight. All serialized parts are matching and include the frame, slide, bbl., and locking block. MAGS: x2 blued steel 8-rd. mags. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: x1 black leather holster marked "0/0833/0007/ P38" above a German WWII eagle proof on the rear. CONDITION: metal components retain the majority of their apparent original factory phosphate finish, exhibiting some scattered light superficial handling marks overall. Mirror bore, retaining well defined rifling throughout. Proper manual mechanics, to include the safety / decocking lever. Grips appear to be refinished, with the left grip exhibiting 2 small holes towards the top of the panel that appear to be the result of prior oxidation. Reproduction holster is very good overall. (26-1862/MLW). 3) EXTREMELY SCARCE FRENCH ASSEMBLED, MAUSER "SVW/46" CODE P.38 SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL. Cal. 9x19mm. S# 160. Bbl. 4 7/8". 1 of only 500 P.38 semi-automatic pistols mfg. by Mauser and assembled in France at MAC (Manufacture d'Armes de Chatellerault). The left side of the slide is marked "P.38", followed by Mauser's mfg. code and the 2-digit year of mfg. "svw/ 46", as well as the S# (minus the "L" suffix) "160". Pistol is virtually devoid of any identifying proof marks, save for a triad of Mauser factory inspector proofs on the left side of the bbl., which is standard for this variation. Underside of slide is marked with a faint partially legible Interarms' import mark. Underside of frame grip spur is marked "160" above an offset "L". Metal components exhibit an apparent reapplied blue finish overall. Frame is mounted with 2-piece grooved stamped sheet metal grips. Standard dovetailed blade front sight and U-notch rear sight. Interior of slide exhibits an apparent European style dewat consisting of a weld that was applied below the safety lever area (at the center between the 2 grooves), which was subsequently ground down. All serialized parts are matching and include the frame, takedown lever (rear), trigger (left), slide, safety lever (rear), as well as the bbl. Locking block is unnumbered. MAGS: x2 blued steel 8-rd. x1 marked only "P.38" on left, the other "jvd" on left and P38/ U" on right. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: black leather holster mfg. by Gebruder Klinge. Rear of holster is marked with Klinge's "gxy" mfg. code, followed by "1944" and "P38". CONDITION: metal components retain the majority of their blue finish, exhibiting some light edge wear, as well as some superficial handling marks. Front face of bbl. lug exhibits a patch of moderate pitting, with a small patch of mild pitting on the underside of the frame spur, and an area of light pitting present on the front grip strap. Bright bore, exhibiting a consistent scattering of light pitting, while retaining well defined rifling throughout. Proper manual mechanics, to include the safety / decocking lever. Grips show some mild wear and thinning that shows through to silvering, with scattered spots of light to mild pitting present beneath the finish on the right panel. Holster remains malleable, exhibiting a couple of spots of age related cracking and crazing. Totaling approx. 0.04% of production according to page 219 of "The P.38 Pistol" by Alexander Krutzek, this variation is seldom encountered. Many examples are noted with cracked slides as a result of poor heat treating, with other examples from this batch believed to have been used in France's Indochina War, further contributing to their scarcity today. (26-1863/MLW). ALL CURIO. $4,500-6,500.
