SHOTGUNS. 1) Cal. 12 GA, 2 3/4". S# E985256. Bbl. 20". Model 1897 pump action shotgun mfg. by Winchester in 1953 and later assembled in a trench configuration. Left side of the bbl. is marked with the model and cal. designations above a "FULL" choke marking. Metal components exhibit a blue finish overall. Sanded and refinished grooved wood pump and pistol grip buttstock with checkered black synthetic Winchester buttplate. Aftermarket 6-row dull blue finished perforated steel handguard / bayonet assembly with brass bead front sight. Screws on right side of handguard are poorly fit. CONDITION: metal components retain fair amounts of their original factory blue finish, with the balance having faded to a gray patina, exhibiting scattered spots of light surface oxidation and superficial handling marks overall. Very bright bore, exhibiting some scattered spots of light surface oxidation, as well as some indentations from installation of the handguard. Proper manual mechanics. Wood furniture shows scattered marks, scratches, and impressions from handling and storage, but otherwise remains sound. (25-5326/MLW). 2) Cal. 12 GA. S# 580963. Bbl. 30". Model 1897 pump action shotgun mfg. by Winchester in 1915. Left side of the bbl. is marked with Winchester's 2-line mfg. and patent information, followed by "12 GA." and a "FULL" choke marking. Action slide is marked "MODEL 1897/ -WINCHESTER-". Metal components exhibit a reapplied blue finish overall. Attractive contemporary production grooved wood pump and rnd. knob buttstock with checkered black hard rubber Winchester buttplate. Brass bead front sight. A previous auction listing from Will Sullivan Auction Co. (December 13, 2020) states that this example was restored by and formerly in the collection of noted gunsmith Bud Hemphill. CONDITION: metal components retain the majority of their reapplied blue finish, exhibiting streaks and areas of light wear and thinning that are fading to gray patina, with some scattered spots of light surface oxidation present overall. Relatively bright bore (as refinished), exhibiting consistent mild pitting, with some scattered patches of moderate pitting. Proper manual mechanics. Wood furniture is very good overall, exhibiting a few scattered superficial handling marks. (25-5335/MLW). BOTH CURIO. $700-1,000.
