SHOTGUNS. 1) Cal. 12 GA. S# 474533. Bbl. 19". Model 1897 pump action shotgun mfg. by Winchester in 1911 as part of the E Series. Top of the bbl. is marked with Winchester's 2-line mfg. and patent information, followed by "12 GA.", with a "FULL" choke marking present on the left towards the breech. Metal components exhibit a blue finish overall. Grooved wood forearm and plain wood pistol grip buttstock. Buttstock is fitted with a suede and leather lace cover. Aluminum bead front sight. Matching numbers are present on the receiver and receiver extension. CONDITION: metal components retain fair amounts of their original factory blue finish, exhibiting areas of wear and thinning fading to gray patina, scattered marks and scratches, as well as scattered spots and patches of light to mild pitting. Relatively bright bore, exhibiting consistent light to mild pitting throughout. Proper manual mechanics. Wood furniture shows scattered marks and impressions from handling and storage, with the buttstock exhibiting a crack on either side of the wrist, stemming from the receiver. (25-5322/MLW). 2) Cal. 12 GA. S# C62779. Bbl. 32 1/4" (with improperly seated adj. bbl. sleeve). Model 1897 pump action shotgun mfg. by Winchester in 1899. Top of the bbl. is faintly marked with Winchester's 2-line mfg. and patent information, followed by "12" towards the breech. Left side of bbl. is marked with a "FULL" choke marking. Action slide is marked "WINCHESTER/ MODEL 1897". Metal components exhibit a blue finish. 3-screw grooved wood forearm with replacement plain wood pistol grip buttstock and checkered black synthetic Winchester buttplate marked "M97" on the interior. Brass bead front sight. Matching numbers are present on the receiver and receiver extension. CONDITION: metal components have faded to a mottled gray patina, exhibiting scattered spots and patches of light to mild surface oxidation and pitting, as well as scattered superficial marks and scratches. Bore exhibits consistent mild pitting, with scattered spots and patches of moderate pitting. Action cannot be tested until adj. sleeve is properly mounted. Wood furniture shows scattered marks and impressions from handling and storage. Forearm exhibits a crack on the left side, an old repaired full length crack on the underside, as well as a large chip on the right side. Buttstock exhibits a 5" crack on the left side stemming from the receiver. Buttplate is loose, with screws not threading. (25-5791/MLW). BOTH CURIO. $500-800.
