AMMUNITION CANS. Lot of Browning Model of 1918 belt loaders and ammo cans, including: 1) Browning Model of 1918 belt loader mfg. by J.W. Manufacturing Company in 1942. Loader is marked with a U.S. flaming ordnance bomb and "D 35387 JW" on the top plate, with "BROWNING BELT FILLING MACHINE/ MODEL OF 1918" marked on the side of the base, and "J.W. MFG. CO. 1942/ U.S.A." on the underside ("2" in "1942" is stamped over a "1"). Loader features a brass and steel construction, is complete with its operating handle and feed chute, and housed within a green painted wood transit chest. CONDITION: very good, with the loader retaining the vast majority of its arsenal finish. Chest shows some scattered marks and impressions, but otherwise remains sound. 2) Browning Model of 1918 belt loader mfg. by J.W. Manufacturing Company in 1942. Top plate of loader is marked "BROWNING BELT FILLING MACHINE/ MODEL OF 1918", with "J.W. MFG. CO./ 1942/ U.S.A." marked on the underside of the base. Loader features a steel construction, is accompanied by its handle and feed chute, and is housed within a green painted wood transit chest. CONDITION: very good, with metal components retaining areas of grease overall. Feed chute shows some scattered handling marks and areas of discoloration. Transit chest shows scattered marks from handling and storage, and is missing its left lid retention washer / screw assembly. 3) x3 ammo cans. x1 comprised of green painted wood, the other 2 of steel. Wood can contains a vintage "THE BROWNING HEAVY MACHINE GUN MECHANISM MADE EASY" booklet by Gale & Polden LTD. CONDITION: ammo cans are good, showing some marks from handling and storage, but otherwise remaining sound. Booklet shows scattered spots of minor staining and age related discoloration, but otherwise remains sound. PROVENANCE: Military Museum Collection of Shooters Outpost, Hooksett NH. (02-27418/MLW). NON-GUN. $1,800-2,400.
