DECORATION POSSIBLY BELONGING TO COL. HARVEY BROWN. This trunk measures approx. 27" x 15 1/2" x 11" tall and is covered in black leather with intricate domed brass tack decoration. It is of a type and style that was popular on stagecoaches from 1770-1830 and was often the only seat available. Included with the trunk and found inside is a large muster roll dated December 1819 for the United States Light Artillery. The muster roll is witnessed several times by Harvey Brown. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: copies of information pertaining to Col. Harvey Brown and his trunk. CONDITION: leather is quite dry with numerous separations and a few losses. One of the end handles has become partially detached. Despite 200 years of use, this trunk remains quite solid. (02-27185/BF). NON-GUN. $1,500-2,500.
