Cal. 50 RF. Just over 1000 of these rare repeating carbines were produced. The US Govt. ordered the only contract of these in 1864, however delivery was not made until after the War in 1865. The bbl is 20.5" with dovetailed blade front sight & 3 position 2-leaf rear sight. The rec markings are consistent with standard markings, however they have been refreshed after a heavy polishing. The forearm and buttstock have "GGP" inspection cartouches. Some of the small parts have sub inspector markings. CONDITION: overall good restored condition. The metal surfaces have an even cleaned grey patina. Stock set has been meticulously refinished with great care in keeping the cartouches intact. The buttstock is slightly undersized to the rec tang. Breech block has vivid case colors that appear orig. Bright shiny bore with nice rifling and a patch of pitting. (01-29055/ZAL). ANTIQUE. $2,000-3,000.
