Japanese Type 30 Arisaka Bolt Action Carbine, #2729, 6.5x50mm cal., 19"barrel, blued finish, hardwood stock and handguard with two-piece buttstock, inverted-"V" front sight with protectors, adjustable folding leaf rear sight with wide "V"-notched groove, graduated to 1500 meters. Includes steel cleaning rod. Mum has been defaced with circular marks (possibly indicating removal from military service and transferred to a school for training.) over characters for "three ten type". Left side of the receiver rail is marked with Koishikawa arsenal stamp. "56" is carved into right side of the buttstock. Bolt handle and bayonet mount are numbered but do not match. No visible import marks. Condition overall is good, metal showing fine pitting to the barrel; wear to the barrel bands, bolt body, and buttplate. With areas of brown toning, especially to the trigger guard and magazine floorplate. Handguard is missing. Wood shows evidence of sanding, reshaping to underside of the buttstock. Left side of the forend has been repaired with wood putty and wood shows general marks from military use. Action operates smoothly. Bore rates fair with visible rifling. Est.: $400-$600. (C&R)
