Japanese School Issued Type 38 Arisaka Bolt Action Rifle, #00528094, 6.5x50mm cal., 31.25" barrel, blued finish, hardwood stock and handguard with two-piece buttstock, dovetailed blade front sight, and adjustable folding leaf rear sight with "V"-notched groove, graduated to 2400 meters. Includes steel cleaning rod and reproduction brown leather sling. Sling is in excellent condition. Rifle was removed from Japanese military and issued to a school as a training weapon. Mum has been defaced by a ring of small circle stamps and a "school" stamp has been applied. Left side receiver rail has an addition "00" stamped in front of the serial number and the symbol for the Kokura Arsenal. There are Japanese characters stamped into right side of the buttstock. Numbers do not match. No import marks. Condition overall is good, metal toned dark, with areas of moderate frosting. Wood with general dents and scratches to the dark finish. A large "J" has been carved into left side of the buttstock, and there are small cracks to the handguard and buttstock. Action operates smoothly. Bore is dark, with fair rifling. Est.: $200-$350.
