JAPANESE WWII OFFICER'S SWORD c/w Leather covered Sheath

Beautiful condition Sword in Leather Combat Sheath.

RESERVE set on this Sword is $2200

As per the inscription on the tang - It states Made using special steel by Ido Hidetoshi
do Hidetoshi was a sword smith at the Amahide Sword Workshop in Seki, Gifu
Prefecture and produced blades for officers throughout the War.
The Amahide shop was under the broad aegis of the Seki Cutlery Guild.
This sword would have been inspected by the Nagoya Arsenal Depot and then
mounted in the Army Type 94/98 shin-gunto mounts
There is no date stamp on this one as not all swords were date marked. Was made between 1933 to 1945.

It has an ornate brass tsuba (cross guard) and a single gilt brass seppa (spacer).
The tsuka (handle) has a brass Cherry-Blossom menuki (grip decorations), and a
nice brass Kabuto-Gane (End Cap). There is no loop or cord through the end cap,
It has a very good condition white Ray skin grip with complete lightly worn brown-
colored Ito (cloth binding) with fine decorative collar (fuchi), which is molded to look
like it has a seppa on the top. There is some staining and dirt and sweat on the cloth
wrapping, and the condition of the fittings indicates light use.
As typical of the pattern, Cherry Blossom motifs appear on many of the fittings.
The handle is tight to the blade.

The Wood scabbard appears to have a standard black lacquer finish, it is entirely
covered with a thick leather covering.. This leather is in great condition - the only
damage is a missing buckle on the small strap at guard

The NAKAGO or tang has a MEI or signature of the swordsmith confirming that this
is a hand forged blade done in the traditional way
