ENAMIYA OF THE SAKAI SCHOOL. Cal. 50. NSN. Consignor provided research attributes the maker to Enamiya Sahei of Seki; circa 1800's. Enamiya is listed as a Sakai school gunsmith from the book "Caps & Flints" by the June 1982 copy of Antique And Historical Arms Collectors Guild of Victoria, Australia. 1998 Dated lecture notes has appraisal written signature translations. Makibari 26.5" barrel with cannonade muzzle. Blade front sight & blade brass rear sight. Top of barrel has brass inlaid engraved clouds & dragon. Brass lock has sliding pan cover. Hardwood two piece stock w/ brass furniture, ornamentation & ramrod. Engraving of brass ornamentation includes birds, clouds, cherry blossoms, rabbit's head & dragon's head. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: consignor notes. CONDITION: barrel has cleaned gray appearance with patina & washed out engraving. Wood has fair appearance with numerous light dings, missing piece right side nose, missing inlay left side by band, sm. piece missing in front of lock. Dark bore with oxidation. (01-29201/MD).
