PISTOL. Cal. about 48. NSN. 10" octagon bbl with bead front sight. Top flat of bbl and trade style lock are engraved "Rundell". J. Rundell was a 20th century builder of fine flintlock & percussion rifles and pistols. Plain trigger has a curled tip. Pin fastened fiddle figured maple stock has a pewter nose cap. Incise carving is found around the top tang. Brass fitting include the butt cap, trigger guard, side plate, pin escutcheons and faceted thimble. The side plate is scroll engraved. Other brass fitting feature star burst engraving. Tang, top bbl flat and lock have simple but tasteful line engraving. The hickory ramrod is held by a single iron pipe. CONDITION: metal shows a light gray/brown appearance. Stock has very good finish with small cracks extending from the front of the lock & above the side plate. Sound lock & trigger. The bore retains strong rifling showing scattered dark spots. PROVENANCE: From the Private Collection of FEGA Master Engraver Joe Rundell.(01-29012/DS). ANTIQUE. $800-1,200.
