Cal. 50. NSN. 39" octagon bbl measuring 1" across flats. Top flat is engraved "Rundell". J. Rundell of Michigan was an accomplished 20th century builder of fine flintlock & percussion rifles & pistols. Beaded brass blade Rocky Mountain style front sight with a fine U-notch fixed rear sight. Lightly engraved lock is marked "LOTT". Curled plain trigger. Full length pin fastened maple stock has tight fiddle figure. Patch box has a relief carved maple lid. Left side cheekpiece has a molded lower edge and is surrounded relief carving. Incise carved toe line leads to relief carving at the wrist, lock & side plate areas. Brass fittings include the butt plate, trigger guard, side plate & nose cap. Hickory ramrod is held by a plain thimble & 2 plain pipes. Weight: 9 lbs. 4.4 oz. CONDITION: near excellent. bbl retains over 98% finely browned finish. Lock & hammer have lightly faded browned finish. Stock has very good finish showing a few marks. Sound lock & trigger.
