PAGE 8 OF THE GREEN FLYING GEESE 1929 "PARKER GUNS" CATALOG WITH CASE & FACTORY LETTER. Cal. 16 Ga. 2-9/16". S# 197081 (1922 factory letter). This nicely appointed gun has 26" barrels marked "PARKER BROS, MAKERS, MERIDEN. CT, U.S.A. ACME STEEL." on matted game rib. Barrel flats are stamped with all correct factory marking with gauge and frame size "1" on lump. Case hardened Parker boxlock type action with all correct markings on watertable features automatic safety and nickel plated double triggers. Action is filed in high grade style with single bead around fences and relief chevron in top lever. Action is engraved with near full coverage varying size simple scroll surrounding unusual game scenes. A running stag is on left and stag drinking from a pool is on right. "PARKER BROS" is at rear on both sides. An alert setter is on bottom of action and trigger plate is engraved with semi-relief portrait of retriever with quail in mouth. Another setter is on trigger guard bow. The quality of this engraving is exceptional for a Parker gun and this very gun is pictured in the 1929 "Parker Guns" catalog on page 8 where is shows both the left action and grip as well as a bottom photo with identifiable serial number. (It is also pictured in most later catalogs.) Capped pistol grip buttstock made of very nicely marbled and lightly figured European walnut measures 14" over skeleton steel buttplate. Side panels, with fleur-de-lis drop points, are nicely checkered. Classic fancy pattern checkering with flourishes into comb wraps over top of grip. Bottom of hard rubber grip cap has scroll engraved large gold oval with the initials "E.T.B." (this engraving is not visible in catalog). Matching splinter ejector forend with nicely filed and engraved steel tip and Parker type release is near fully checkered. Ejector patent dates are on iron. MEASUREMENTS: BBLS: Bore Diameter: L .668. R .668. Restriction: L .030 (full). R .017 (mod). Wall thickness: L .023. R .029. STOCK: DAH: 2-5/8"+. DAC: 1-5/8". CAST: about 1/4" off. LOP: 14". WEIGHT: 6 lb. 10 oz. (matches factory letter). Gun is housed in green canvas leather trimmed case by Emmebi which contains reproduction 1929 Parker catalog, Del Grego reproduction Parker pamphlet, old auction tags and 2 keys. CONDITION: fine as partially refinished. Barrels retaining nearly all of a good quality re-black. Stocks show light sympathic oil refinish with some minor later marks. Checkering dark; shows light wear and has not been re-cut. Action presents a very pleasing pewter gray with traces of original case hardening color found where protected. Engraving remains sharp and clear. Trigger guard shows almost complete flaking of blue to a brownish silver. Triggers retain most of their original nickel plate. Bores are very fine; bright and shiny. Action is tight with lever to the right of center. Ejectors are strong and in time. Case is excellent; fairly new. A very fine high grade Parker gun.
