SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL. Cal. 9mm Luger. S# 2825c. Bbl. 7 7/8". LP.08 Luger semi-automatic pistol mfg. by DWM for the Imperial German military in 1918. The top of the bbl. extension is marked "1918" over the chamber, with a sole DWM arsenal proof, followed by an imperial Reichsadler marked on the right (likely indicating that the bbl. extension was replaced at one time). Toggle is marked with the intertwined DWM monogram. Metal components exhibit a rust blue finish overall, with some small parts exhibiting either a straw or nitre blue finish. Frame is mounted with 2-piece checkered wood grips, with the right panel being a contemporary replacement. Dovetailed blade front sight, with V-notch tangent rear sight, graduated 1-8. All serialized parts are matching and include the frame, takedown lever, sideplate, trigger, safety lever & bar, hold-open latch, bbl., rear sight assembly, bbl. extension, trigger bar, breechblock, extractor, firing pin, and toggles. Left grip panel is unnumbered. MAGS: 1 8-rd. mag., with mis-matched contemporary wood bottom. CONDITION: metal components retain large amounts of their arsenal blue finish, exhibiting areas of wear and thinning that show through to gray patina, scattered superficial handling marks, as well as scattered spots and concentrated areas of mild to moderate pitting overall. Strawed parts retain traces of their finish, exhibiting scattered spots of mild pitting. Takedown lever and trigger have been cleaned at one time, now remaining mostly in-the-white. Bore is bright, exhibiting consistent light to mild pitting, while retaining strong rifling throughout. Grips show some smoothing, as well as some superficial marks from handling and storage, but otherwise remain sturdy and serviceable. PROVENANCE: The Estate Collection of Charles Wagner. (25-452/MLW). CURIO. $1,000-2,000.
