SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL WITH STOCK & HOLSTER. Cal. 9mm. S# 8631. Bbl. 7 7/8". LP.08 Luger semi-automatic pistol mfg. by DWM under contract for the Imperial German military during WWI. The bbl. extension is marked with the year of mfg. "1917" over the top of the chamber, with a triad of DWM inspector proofs and an Imperial German reichsadler marked on the right (reichsadler repeated on right side of bbl. and left side of breechblock). Toggle is marked with the intertwined DWM monogram logo. Metal components exhibit a rust blue finish, with some small parts exhibiting a straw or nitre blue finish. Frame is mounted with 2-piece checkered wood grips. Dovetailed fine-tune blade front sight and tangent V-notch rear sight graduated 1-8. All serialized parts are matching and include the frame, takedown lever, sideplate, trigger, safety lever & bar, hold-open latch, bbl., front sight, rear sight assembly, bbl. extension, trigger bar, breechblock, extractor, firing pin, as well as the toggles. Right grip panel matches via "31", with no discernible # present on the interior of the left grip. MAGS: x1 non-matching (S#: 6290) plated 8-rd. with wood plug. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: unnumbered wood shoulder stock with reproduction brown leather holster, shoulder strap, and 2-cell mag. pouch. CONDITION: metal components retain large amounts of their original factory blue finish, exhibiting areas of light to mild wear and thinning that are showing through to gray patina, scattered spots of light surface oxidation, as well as some superficial handling marks overall. Front grip strap exhibits scattered spots of surface oxidation, with the rear grip strap exhibiting consistent light surface oxidation. Strawed parts have mostly faded to gray patina, exhibiting scattered spots of age related discoloration, with some spots of light surface oxidation. Bore is relatively bright, exhibiting consistent mild pitting, while retaining strong rifling throughout. Grips show smoothing and some superficial marks from handling and storage, but otherwise remain sound. Stock exhibits numerous scattered marks and impressions, but otherwise remains sound. Reproduction holster is good, showing some light wear overall. (26-2228/MLW). CURIO. $1,000-1,500.
