SHOTGUN A.O.W. Cal. 20 GA. S# 398256. Bbl. 10 3/8". Auto & Burglar Model A SxS shotgun mfg. by Ithaca Gun Company. The top of the right bbl. is marked "--- SMOKELESS POWDER STEEL ---", with "MADE IN U.S.A." marked on the top of the left bbl. Sides of the receiver are engraved with scene of a dog above "AUTO & BURGLAR GUN/ ITHACA GUN Co. ITHACA N.Y.". Receiver exhibits a case colored finish overall, with remaining metal components exhibiting a blue finish. Checkered wood "Model A" high spur pistol grip with checkered wood forearm. Solid matte rib with brass bead front sight. All serialized parts are matching (visible from limited disassembly) and include the receiver, bbls., and forearm iron. Trigger guard is firmly in place, with the trigger guard and pistol grip S#s unable to be verified. CONDITION: receiver retains bountiful amounts of its original vibrant factory case colored finish, exhibiting few spots of light wear, with some scattered spots of light surface oxidation, most notably on the right side and upper tang. Blued parts retain the vast majority of their original factory finish, exhibiting some spots of light wear, some light superficial handling marks, as well as some scattered spots of light surface oxidation overall. Right bbl. shows some light wear and thinning at the muzzle, with the left bbl. exhibiting some finish loss that is fading to gray patina, with a patch of light pitting present in the corresponding area. Near mirror bores, with the right bore exhibiting a ring of mild pitting towards the center. Proper manual mechanics. Wood furniture shows a few scattered superficial marks from handling and storage, but otherwise remains very good overall. A fantastic example of a a rare Ithaca Auto & Burglar Model A.
