BREAK ACTION RIFLE. Cal. 38-55 Win. S# HU212661. Bbl. 28 1/16". Model 1871 single shot break action rifle mfg. by Harrington & Richardson. Left side of the bbl. is marked "~MODEL 1871~/ CAL. 38-55 WIN", followed by an encircled "P" proof. Left side of the receiver is marked with H&R's mfg. and patent information above the S#. Receiver and buttplate exhibit a case colored finish, with remaining metal components exhibiting a blue finish. Checkered wood forearm and straight grip stock with plain steel buttplate. Dovetailed globe front sight with Williams adj. aperture rear sight. Bbl. is factory drilled and tapped with 2 holes, the rear hole currently fitted with the Williams sight. CONDITION: metal components retain the vast majority of their original factory finishes, exhibiting some light superficial handling marks and a couple of spots of light surface oxidation, with areas of grease present in protected areas. Mirror bore, retaining strong rifling throughout. Proper manual mechanics. Wood furniture shows a few marks and minor impressions from handling and storage, but otherwise remains very good overall.
