HOLSTER. Cal. 28 GA. S# 10356. Bbl. 11 1/16". Single shot break action Handy Gun mfg. by Harrington & Richardson. Left side of the frame is marked "H.&R. "HANDY GUN" ", with H&R's 2-line address marked on the right, and the S# marked on the top of the frame tang. Top of the bbl. is marked "28 GAUGE" towards the breech. Frame, hammer, and forearm iron exhibit a case colored finish, with the bbl., bbl. lever, and trigger guard exhibiting a blue finish. Frame is mounted with a 1-piece checkered wood grip and a plain wood forearm. Aluminum bead front sight with frame grooved U-notch rear sight. All serialized parts are matching and include the frame (top of tang and left side beneath grip), bbl., as well as the forearm (interior). UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: unmarked period brown leather holster with shoulder strap. CONDITION: frame retains fair amounts of its original case colored finish, exhibiting areas of wear and thinning fading to gray patina, as well as scattered patches and areas of light pitting overall. Bbl. retains large amounts of its original blue finish, exhibiting scattered spots and patches of wear and thinning fading to gray patina, some scattered spots and small patches of light to mild pitting, scattered superficial handling marks, as well as some striations from prior cleaning. Mirror bore, exhibiting a small patch of light pitting towards the muzzle. Proper manual mechanics. Forearm retains fair amounts of its varnish finish, exhibiting wear, flaking, scattered superficial handling marks, as well as a crack on the right side that stems from the forearm iron. Grip shows light to mild smoothing to the checkering and some superficial marks from handling and storage, with a crack stemming from the right rear corner of the frame tang, that runs along the rear of the grip spur. Brown leather holster remains malleable, exhibiting general overall wear, with varying degrees of age related cracking and crazing present overall. Holster has been repaired at the toe, with stitching re-sewn along the upper edge on one side. Shoulder strap shows consistent age related cracking and crazing, with a tear present at one of the buckle holes. Approx. 54,000 Handy Guns were produced by H&R from 1921-1934, with the majority being chambered in .410 GA, making this a relatively rare 28 GA H&R Handy Gun.
