SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL. Cal. 9mm. S# 7707g. Bbl. 4 7/8". P.38 semi-automatic pistol mfg. by Walther in 1944. Left side of the slide is marked "P.38", followed by the S#, as well as Walther's mfg. code and the 2-digit year of mfg. "ac 44", with x2 Walther Eagle/359 proofs and an eagle firing proof marked on the right. Metal components exhibit a salt blue finish overall. Frame is mounted with 2-piece grooved brown pressed resin grips. Standard dovetailed blade front sight and U-notch rear sight. All serialized parts are matching and include the frame, slide, bbl., and locking block. MAGS: x1 blued steel 8-rd., exhibiting a Walther Eagle/359 proof on the spine. CONDITION: metal components retain good to large amounts of their original salt blue finish, exhibiting areas of wear and thinning that are fading to gray patina (primarily on grip strap, frame spur, trigger, and bbl.), as well as scattered spots of light to mild pitting overall. Bore is bright, exhibiting consistent light to mild pitting, while retaining well defined rifling throughout. Proper manual mechanics, to include the safety / decocking lever. Pressed resin grips show scattered marks from handling and storage, but otherwise remain sound. PROVENANCE: Military Museum Collection of Shooters Outpost, Hooksett NH. (26-2550/MLW).
