"BLACK WIDOW" LUGER SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL WITH HOLSTER. Cal. 9mm Para. S# 5520i. Bbl. 3 15/16". P.08 "Black Widow" Luger semi-automatic pistol mfg. by Mauser in 1942. The bbl. extension is marked "42" over the top of the chamber, with Mauser Eagle/135 proofs and an eagle firing proof (firing proof repeated on right side of bbl. and left side of breechblock) marked on the right. Toggle is marked with Mauser's "byf" mfg. code, with "P.08" marked on the left side of the frame. Metal components exhibit a salt blue finish overall. Frame is mounted with 2-piece checkered black synthetic grips. Standard dovetailed blade front sight and fixed V-notch rear sight. All serialized parts are matching and include the frame, takedown lever, sideplate, trigger, safety lever & bar, hold-open latch, bbl., bbl. extension, trigger bar, breechblock, extractor, firing pin, toggles, as well as the rear toggle pin. MAGS: x2 blued steel mags. marked with x2 Eagle/37 proofs, Haenel's "fxo" mfg. code, and "P.08", with black synthetic plugs. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: black leather holster mfg. by Genschow & Co. marked "GENSCHOW & Co. A.G./ BERLIN", followed by a droop eagle proof above "WaA387", "3616", "1936" and an inscribed "AS". Holster contains an unmarked loading tool. Belt loops on rear of holster are replacements. CONDITION: metal components retain large amounts of their original salt blue finish, exhibiting spots and patches of wear and thinning that are fading to gray patina, as well as scattered spots of light to mild surface oxidation overall. Frame exhibits some light pitting beneath the grips, with a small patch of moderate oxidation and a streak of finish loss present on the right rear of the rear grip strap. Bore is relatively bright, exhibiting consistent light to mild pitting, while retaining well defined rifling throughout. Proper manual mechanics. Grips show some light smoothing, as well as some superficial handling marks, but otherwise remain sound. Holster exhibits moderate wear, exhibiting age related cracking, but otherwise remains sound. Spare mag. exhibits some small dings and impressions, with an area of moderate pitting on the left, and with the right plug "ear" having chipped off. (26-1575/MLW). CURIO. $1,500-2,250.
