SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL WITH "SNAIL DRUM", STOCK, & ACCESSORIES. Cal. 9x19mm. S# 1978k. Bbl. 7 7/8". LP.08 Luger semi-automatic pistol mfg. by DWM under contract for the Imperial German military during WWI. The bbl. extension is marked "1917" over the top of the chamber, with a triad of DWM arsenal inspector proofs and an eagle firing proof marked on the right (firing proof repeated on right side of bbl. and left side of breechblock). Toggle is marked with the intertwined DWM monogram logo. Metal components exhibit a rust blue finish overall, with some small parts exhibiting a straw finish. Grip straps appear to have been touched up and/or were polished at one time. Trigger has possibly been reheated. Frame is mounted with 2-piece checkered wood grips. Dovetailed blade front sight with tangent V-notch rear sight graduated 1-8. Matching numbers are present on the frame, takedown lever, sideplate, trigger, bbl., rear sight assembly, bbl. extension, trigger bar, breechblock, extractor, firing pin, toggles, and grips. Safety bar has been renumbered to match at one time. Hold-open latch is numbered with an X'd out "76". MAGS: x3 plated 8-rd. mags., x1 with unmarked wood plug, x2 with reproduction wood plugs that have been numbered to match. Spare mags. are housed within an original brown leather 2-cell pouch marked "H. BECKER & Co./ BERLIN/ 1917" on the interior of the closure flap. x1 32-rd. Type 2 Trommelmagazin 08 ("Snail Drum") drum mag. with MP-18 adapter and dust cover. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: x1 original brown leather shoulder strap, x1 unnumbered stock, x1 cleaning rod, and x1 reproduction Trommelmagazin 08 loader. CONDITION: metal components retain the majority of their blue finish, exhibiting patches of wear and thinning that are fading to a grayish brown patina, as well as some superficial handling marks overall. Strawed parts exhibit spots of wear and thinning fading to gray patina, with some scattered spots of age related discoloration. Bore is bright, exhibiting a consistent scattering of small spots of mild pitting, while retaining strong rifling throughout. Proper manual mechanics. Grips show light to mild smoothing, as well as a few superficial marks and nicks, but otherwise remain sound. Trommelmagazin is good to very good, showing light wear and retaining areas of a previously applied varnish. Dust cover and MP-18 adapter show flaking and wear to their black enamel type finish, but otherwise remain sound. Stock shows scattered superficial marks from handling and storage, with some oxidation present on stock lug. 2-cell mag. pouch and shoulder strap exhibit some exterior wear, but otherwise remain sound.
