PISTOL. Cal. 9mm Luger. S# B7580. Bbl. 4 5/8". Vis.35 semi-automatic pistol mfg. by Radom while under German occupation during World War II. Interestingly, many "A" and "B" S# block pistols are believed to have been assembled around the same time as the late "K" S# block pistols at Steyr, likely due to severe damages incurred by Allied bombing. The left side of the slide is marked with a Radom Eagle/77 proof, followed by "F.B.RADOM VIS Mod.35.Pat.Nr.", and an eagle firing proof above an illegible Steyr Eagle/623 proof (indicating final assembly at Steyr). Left side of the frame is marked with a Radom Eagle/77 proof, with a Steyr Eagle/623 proof marked on the left side of the forward trigger guard web (also on left side of the bbl. lug). Metal components exhibit a blue finish overall, with some spots/areas possibly having been touched up at one time. Bbl. is polished in-the-white. Frame is mounted with 2-piece grooved wood grips. Slide features a matte rib, with a fixed blade front sight and dovetailed V-notch rear sight. Nearly all numbers are matching and include the frame, slide (interior), and bbl. Grip safety is mismatched (S# 5073). MAGS: 1 blued unproofed 8-rd. CONDITION: metal components retain the majority of their blue finish, exhibiting some wear and thinning that shows through to gray patina, some scattered superficial handling marks, as well as varying degrees of pitting (primarily on the slide). Grips straps show wear and thinning through to gray patina. Dark bore, exhibiting consistent moderate pitting, while retaining good rifling throughout. Grips show a few superficial marks from handling and storage, but otherwise remain sturdy and serviceable. PROVENANCE: The Estate Collection of Charles Wagner. (25-462/MLW). CURIO. $1,000-2,000.
