Cal. 22 (22 LR). S# VSK001. Bbl. 3 1/2". ST1F hybrid knife / revolver mfg. by G.R.A.D. (Global Research and Development). The forward section of the grip is marked "Model ST1F/ PATENT PENDING", with "G.R.A.D./ LAS VEGAS NV" and "VSK 001 CAL.22LR" marked on the rear section. Metal components (to include the blade and 2-piece hinged grip frame) exhibit a satin stainless steel finish, with the cyl. exhibiting a dual-tone satin and polished stainless steel finish. Grip frame housing is comprised of 4 checkered black synthetic panels. Blade measures 7 1/8" (point to bottom edge of ricasso) and features a 3 11/16" blood groove on either side. Knife features a 6-shot internal cyl. (housed within the grip frame), which is actuated via the folding trigger assembly. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: black cardboard box, containing an original G.R.A.D. manual. CONDITION: excellent, with metal components retaining virtually all of their satin stainless steel finish, showing no evidence of prior use or excessive handling. Proper manual mechanics. Grip is excellent overall. Box is excellent, with few light superficial handling marks. (03-2273/MLW) MODERN / CLASS III. NON-FIRING SALES SAMPLE GRAD KNIFE / REVOLVER & BLANK FIRING VERSION. Cal. .22. In the 1990's Global Research and Development (GRAD) designed a fixed blade production knife w/ a revolver mechanism concealed in the grip. Several types of these double action revolver knives were produced. The trigger is concealed within the handle of the knife and is deployed by rotating the trigger shoe which allows it to rise and is ready to shoot. There is a cam that can be rotated to allow the trigger to be depressed without firing, so it may be carried as a knife again. They were categorized as Any Other Weapons (A.O.W.s) in the NFA registry. It has been several years since they were produced, with less than 1,000 of all models & configurations combined ever produced. This grouping includes 2 extremely rare variants, both categorized as "Non-Guns" by the BATFE. The first is a model RS1N non-firing sales sample. While everything internally functions as the originals, there is no internal barrel. The mechanism can be studied, deployed & examined, but it does not fire a cartridge. It is marked: "G.R.A.D. / LAS VEGAS, NV. / NON-FIREARM / PRE-PRODUCTION 0125/1000 / MODEL RS1N / PATENT PENDING". The second example is designed to fire only .22 Short blanks. The chambers are obstructed, as is the barrel so it will not allow a live round to be chambered or fired. It is also considered a Non-gun by BATFE. It is marked: "GRAD / NECADA / CAL. SS SHORT BLANK ONLY". The blades are not factory sharpened as they were intended to be handled by a lot of people for study, & demonstration purposes. The blades measure 6.6" in length. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: Each knife is in its original box w/ fitted foam insert. The Blank firing version comes w/ a determination letter from BATFE stating that it is a Non-Firearm & Owner's manual. This lot also includes 2 sealed VHS marketing videos. CONDITION: All aspects of these items indicate they are still as they left the factory, displaying very few signs of prior handling. PROVENANCE: Military Museum Collection of Shooters Outpost, Hooksett NH. (02-27157 / 02-27158/JZ). NON-GUNS. $2,000-3,000.
