GUN.Cal. 7.7 Jap. S# 1612. Bbl. 21 3/4" matching & dated July 1941. No flash hider installed. Grooved blade front sight with protective ears. Rear sight aperture is separate but present. Receiver mounted 2.5x T99 scope numbered "3284". Scope has star logo with "EK" in center denoting Tokyo Arsenal mfr. Locking block, bolt, some other internal parts & gas regulators are all mismatched. Balance of other visible parts are matching numbered to receiver. Very early 1941 made 99 LMG. The 99 machine guns were widely used in the Pacific War. Right side of receiver has Nagoya symbol with "16.7" Showa date for July, 1941. Blued finish. Rear receiver pin is reversed with modern replacement nut present. Asian hardwood stock & grooved pistol grip. Monopod & bipod present. MAGS: 1-30 original but numbered to a different gun. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: scope case with aperture for rear sight, spare 16.8 dated bbl. with flash hider that will not thread on currently installed bbl. & CONDITION: stock set has a darkened appearance with scattered abrasions, dings, handling marks & combat wear. Butt stock is loose & floorplate door is bent. Metal retains 60% original blue with a few patches of pitting, scattered edge wear, oxidation, handling marks & fading. Action functions properly when hand cycled. Bore has good rifling but scattered pitting & residue from usage.
