AR-15 MODEL 614. Cal. 5.56mm. S# 0403942. Bbl. 20". Mfg.1966-1973. Finding an original Colt Model 614 select fire rifle is a treasure. Finding one that is still as new in the original box is all but unheard of. That is what we have here. The package of the gun, the box & the accessories are a time capsule of days long gone. The labeling illustrates a declared value of $372.16 and hand-written on the box, if no one was available to accept it, an alternate address to drop it off at. The model 614 was the commercial export and police model of the M16A1. Threaded muzzle terminated w/ 3-prong flash hider. Protected post front sight / gas block / bayonet lug. Triangular beavertail forend retained w/ strait delta ring. Carry handle upper receiver w/ no forward assist or brass deflector. Dual aperture rear peep sight. Full length (9.75") shoulder stock w/ no trap door. Left side of receiver is marked: " COLT / AR-15 / MOD. 614 / CAL. 5.56MM. / 0403942" on mag-well. Above trigger markings include: "COLT'S PATENT FIREARMS MFG. CO. / HARTFORD CONN. U.S.A.". Safety / selector markings as follows: "SAFE - SEMI - AUTO". MAGS: 1 aluminum 20 rd, still in original box. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: Original cardboard shipping box w/ cardboard & plastic packaging, green & white label inside box, bayonet & unsealed cleaning kit. The box still contains a few sections of the green packing material used for early M16 shipments. CONDITION: All aspects indicate this gun is still as new in box. No sign of use or even aggressive handling. Finish complete & consistent w/o even the typical thinning areas due to mechanical intervention. Cardboard wick still present in barrel. The only abnormality obvious is a small multi-circular drag line on carry handle on left side in proximity of rear sight. Bright bore w/ strong rifling. Fire control mechanism appears to function correctly when cycled by hand. PROVENANCE: Military Museum Collection of Shooters Outpost, Hooksett NH. NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT MG REQUIRING BATF TRANSFER BEFORE TAKING POSSESSION. FULLY TRANSFERABLE. (03-2409/JZ). CURIO CLASS III. $50,000-80,000.
