Cal. 30 Luger. S# 8131. Bbl. 3 15/16". Originally mfg. as a standard configuration P.08 Luger by DWM in 1918 for the Imperial German military, this example subsequently found its way to Finland (either from Finnish volunteers who served in the German military during WWI or via post-war commercial sales) and was converted into an M/23 Luger. This example is marked "1918" over the top of the chamber, with WWI DWM arsenal proofs and an Imperial German reichsadler marked on the right (Reichsadler repeated on left side of breechblock). Toggle is marked with the intertwined "DWM" monogram. Top of the Finnish replacement bbl. is marked with the Tikka logo towards the breech. Frame is import marked "PRI GARDEN CITY KS/ P08 30 LUGER GERMANY" along the sides of the stock lug. Metal components exhibit a rust blue finish overall, with some small parts including the takedown lever, trigger, mag. release button, safety lever, and ejector exhibiting a straw finish. Frame is mounted with 2-piece checkered wood grips. Dovetailed Lahti pattern blade front sight with rear sight modified into a U-notch configuration. Apparent Finnish replacement coil mainspring guide fabricated from a thin plate of steel with a brass retention pin. All serialized parts are matching and include the frame, takedown lever, sideplate, trigger, safety lever & bar, hold-open latch, bbl. extension, trigger bar, breechblock, extractor, firing pin, toggles, as well as the grips. Finnish replacement bbl. is unnumbered. MAGS: 1 blued steel 8-rd. mag. with wood plug, retaining traces of a "Cal. 9m/m" marking. CONDITION: metal components retain the majority of their original factory blue finish, exhibiting spots and patches of light to mild wear and thinning that is fading to gray patina, with scattered superficial handling marks and spots of light surface oxidation / pitting present overall. Bore is bright, exhibiting streaks of light pitting in the grooves, while retaining strong rifling throughout. Proper manual mechanics. Grips show mild smoothing and some minor superficial marks from handling and storage, but otherwise remain sound. (25-6074/MLW). CURIO. $1,000-1,500.
