OF THE WEBLEY" DOUBLE ACTION REVOLVER WITH BOX, CASE, & CERTIFICATE. Cal. 38/200. S# 87796. Bbl. 5". 1 of the last 250 Mark IV double action revolvers mfg. by Webley & Scott to commemorate 100 years of the Webley revolver. The left side of the bbl. is marked "The 100th Year of The Webley Revolver 1882-1982", with "The Sun Never Sets on A Webley Mark IV" on the right. Top strap of the bbl. is marked "WEBLEY & SCOTT LTD/ MADE IN ENGLAND" with "MARK IV .38" marked on the left. Bbl. and cyl. exhibit assorted British proofs. Metal components exhibit a brushed blue finish overall. Frame is mounted with 2-piece Webley checkered black synthetic grips, featuring a lanyard swivel and ring on the butt. Fixed blade front sight with integral square notch rear sight on bbl. latch. All serialized parts are matching and include the frame, bbl., as well as the cyl. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: cardboard box containing a wood display case. Display case features a yellow felt lined interior, with a black and gold "Webley & Scott/ ESTABLISHED 1790/ Birmingham/ ENGLAND/ INCORPORATING W.W. GREENER" label on the interior of the lid. Revolver is also accompanied by a certificate, listing this revolver by S# and signed on the 4th of July, 1982 by the company president, indicating that this example was one of the last 250 Mark IV revolvers produced by Webley & Scott. CONDITION: extremely fine, with metal components retain virtually all of their original factory blue finish, exhibiting few light superficial marks from handling and storage. Bluing shows areas that are showing through to brown that are only visible when viewed beneath a light, though this does not appear to be from wear. Cyl. exhibits no dragline. Brilliant mirror bore, retaining well defined rifling throughout. Proper manual mechanics (with action open to preserve cyl. condition). Grips are excellent overall. Box shows several tears to the lid, but otherwise remains sound. Case is very good, exhibiting a few superficial marks from handling and storage. (25-6576/MLW). MODERN. $500-800.
