PREMIER GRADE 410 SEMI-AUTO SHOTGUN. Cal. .410. S# 4108025. Bbl. 25" with matted vent rib having white front and mid beads. Mfg in the Remington Custom Shop, the F-grade was the highest grade available. The 11-48 was a recoil operated shotgun produced from1949 to 1968. Each side of the action features 3 vignettes with pointing dogs and game birds. The scenes are surrounded by vine type foliate engraving with finely stippled backgrounds that extend to upper & lower receiver areas as well the breech ends of both bbls. "E" is engraved on left center vignette; possibly indicating Carl Ennis as the engraver. Trim finger groove forearm and Remington hard rubber capped pistol grip stock of exhibition grade American black walnut is gloss finished. Fine "F" grade hand checkering. Oval brass presentation plate toeline is engraved "EN" in script. LOP: 13 7/8" over original Remington buttplate. CONDITION: very fine overall. Metal retains 97% blue with light muzzle wear and minor thinning at bottom of action. Engraving remains sharp and crisp. Stocks set is very good with only a few scattered handling marks and a couple spots of finish loss on toeline. Bright shiny bore. (26-283/BH). CURIO. $5,000-8,500.
