SHOOTER SAA REVOLVER; ONLY 12 NUMBERS AWAY FROM THE HISTORIC PAT GARRET SAA THAT KILLED BILLY THE KID. Cal. 44-40. S# 55081. It is interesting to note that this Frontier Six-Shooter is only 12 s#'s away from the legendary SAA revolver Pat Garrett used to kill Billy the Kid (S# 55093). It is very well possible the two revolvers occupied the same space at the Colt Factory prior to their shipments. Bbl 7-1/2" with blade front sight, marked on left side with acid etched panel "COLT FRONTIER SIX SHOOTER". Correct early style "bullseye" ejector rod head. Blued barrel, ejector housing, six-shot fluted cylinder, trigger guard & grip frame. Case hardened frame & hammer. Niter blued screws & trigger. 1-piece walnut grip inked in backstrap channel with matching s#. Revolver has matching s#'s throughout. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: Colt factory letter stating the following: Serial Number: 55081 / Caliber: .44/40 / Barrel Length: Not Listed / Finish: Blue / Type of Stocks: Not Listed / Shipped To: J,.P. Blued metal parts retain 60% original finish overall with high edge wear & thinning. Etched panel is very strong & easily legible. Frame & hammer retain 40% original case colors. Grip retains 75% original factory varnish with areas of touched up finish. Varnish is worn around butt contour. Very good bore with strong rifling. Good action, all four clicks present.
