PENTERMAN OF UTRECHT. Cal. 16 bore. The Penterman family operated in Utrecht, Netherlands during the late 17th and early 18th centuries. This example is fit with a 36 3/4" flared smoothbore bbl with a silver blade front sight and double wedding band rings and engraved with the signature "PENTERMAN UTRECHT". The extreme breech end of the barrel is engraved with stylized flames emanating from a third wedding ring band that is grooved along with the bbl tang for a rear sight that is engraved en suite. The rounded lock with curved tail is marked with the same "PENTERMAN UTRECHT" makers mark. The stock is relief carved in a silhouetting manner around the foliate finialed brass furniture. The ramrod is held in place with a 3 beaded ferrules. CONDITION: Overall very good. The bbl retains approx 75% of its original blue that is thinning with a mellow brown patina in the voids. The lock has a nice silvered patina with some small fine pinprick pitting patches. The stock has been lightly refinished and repaired well in the butt area. Brass furniture has a nice mellow mustard patina. Bore is nice with some minor pitting. (01-26714/ZAL) ANTIQUE $2750-3750
