18th CENTURY FOLDING RACE KNIFE. Fine gentleman's green veneered cased folding silver knife & fork, 3" silver blades on both are British hallmarked with no letter dates, consistent with late 18th century, tortoise shell handles, hinged casing is very good as are knifes, crack in tortoise shell on one. Race knife used by woodworkers is dated 1767 and initialed by owner, fold out cutting scribe is intact, iron patina. CONDITION: both good. PROVENANCE: estate collection of Compton LaBauve, Jr. (02-26487-12/JS). NON-GUN. $400-600.
